Taking the Leap: Journey to Ubud, Bali

Months ago, I left my community, my country, and everything familiar to be here in Ubud, Bali. It has always been my dream to live here but this was not an easy decision. I am not someone who travels solo often. I love comfort, routines, and familiarity.

But something deep within me kept whispering: It’s time.

Taking a leap of faith feels a little like standing at the edge of a cliff, it is exciting, terrifying, and unknown. You can feel your heart beating faster. You think of everything that might go wrong. You think of everyone and everything you are leaving behind. And still, there is that quiet voice inside that says, Go.

Bali called me because I knew it would support my growth. The yoga studios, the healers, the vegan food and smoothie bowls — yes, those were part of the dream. But what I didn’t expect were the lessons that came with saying yes to myself:

  • Learning to sit with myself — the quiet can be uncomfortable at first, but then it becomes the space where I hear my truest voice.

  • Meeting my emotions honestly — allowing sadness, fear, and even joy to fully move through me.

  • Realizing that healing is not linear — some days I felt light and inspired, and others I felt lonely or unsure. Both are part of the process.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth. Finding accommodation, learning to get around without a bike, living with roosters, mozzies, floods. It’s not all Instagram-perfect. But each challenge has been a teacher.

One of the most profound moments was meeting Kadek, a Balinese healer who works by donation. His presence alone reminded me that healing is a heart-centered journey. The water blessing he offered me felt like a message: You are on the right path. Keep going. Open your heart.

If you are reading this and feeling the pull toward something new, maybe a new city, a new job, a new chapter in life, let this be your sign. The leap is never without fear, but fear is not a stop sign. It is simply showing you that you are leaving your comfort zone, stepping into a place where growth happens.

If you are in Bali and feel ready for your own healing leap, you can find Kadek’s offerings here.

And if you are elsewhere, maybe your leap is simply allowing yourself to slow down today, to breathe, to listen to what your heart is asking for.

Trust that you are being guided. Trust that the net will appear when you jump.
